Ashwinder Eggs are an ingredient in some Hogwarts Legacy potions, like the Edarus Potion, which requires 1 Ashwinder Egg and 1 Mongrel Fur to brew. The Edarus Potion is a handy spell as it gives players a protective rocky skin, which can be an invaluable additional defense when taking on strong enemies like trolls or big groups of enemies simultaneously. When players unlock the Room of Requirement, they can brew larger supplies of potions like Edarus by purchasing and conjuring tables with more pots for maximum yield.
Where To Get Ashwinder Eggs
One of the quickest and safest ways to get Ashwinder Eggs is to buy them from the J. Pippins Potion store in Hogsmeade where players can buy them for 150 Gold Galleons each. Some vendors around the world map also stock Ashwinder Eggs, such as Fatimah Lawang's vendor cart in Keenbridge, which players visit on the A Demanding Delivery side quest after they get a broom. However, there's a limited supply of 5 batches at a time, so if players want more Ashwinder Eggs, they'll need to search elsewhere.
Ashwinder Eggs Near Hogwarts Castle
Ashwinder Eggs are less commonly found in the wild when compared to other more readily available resources, like finding and farming Moonstone. However, Ashwinder Eggs are most likely discoverable near rocky terrain on cliff-side or ground-level areas, so don't be fooled into thinking they must be in high-up regions, as searching around the highest points of the map can often prove futile. One of the best, safest, and most reliable areas for Ashwinder Eggs is close to Hogwarts Castle along the rocky perimeter of the Quidditch Pitch. Here, players can find 2 Ashwinder Egg nests near the group of morning kite-flying witches and wizards, with a large group of 5 nests just above this area. Incidentally, there is also a Merlin Trial nearby.
Ashwinder Eggs Near Cave Dwellings, Abandoned Camp Fires, And Merlin Trials
Players might likely also come across Ashwinder Eggs close to Merlin Trial locations, which players need to get more Mallowsweet to solve. This isn't guaranteed for every trial, but Ashwinder Eggs do sometimes sit close to some Trials, such as the Merlin Trial location near the Lower Hogsfield area not far from The Lost Astrolabe side quest location.
