Hogwarts Legacy tells the story of a young-fifth year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and wizardry who embarks on a journey to stop a power-obsessed goblin from waging war on wizardkind. While the opening of the game tasks the protagonist with attending various classes and completing schoolwork, they are eventually given the freedom to explore the world outside the castle's walls.
The world of Hogwarts Legacy is vast and littered with collectibles, but some players may struggle to locate and acquire Leaping Toadstool Caps, sentient creatures that, when collected, can serve a pretty useful purpose. There are two ways to acquire Leaping Toadstool Caps in Hogwarts Legacy, but one method is easier than the other.
What Do Leaping Toadstool Caps Do?
Once acquired, Leaping Toadstool Caps can be used to create Invisibility Potions, handy concoctions that allow the drinker to go unseen for some time. Invisibility Potions can be purchased from the J. Pippin's Potions store on the western side of Hogsmeade for 500 Galleons, but this can become quite expensive if the player wishes to acquire several.
To create an Invisibility Potion, the player will need to have obtained Troll Bogeys, Knotgrass Sprigs, and Leaping Toadstool Caps. Then, they must approach a Potions Station either in Professor Sharp's Classroom or in the Room of Requirement to combine these ingredients and create the potion.
Where To Buy Leaping Toadstool Caps In Hogwarts Legacy
Players with Galleons to spare can purchase Leaping Toadstool Caps from the J. Pippin's Potions store. There, players will need to spend 150 Galleons to acquire one, or 750 to acquire the five he has in stock.
Buying Leaping Toadstool Caps is arguably the easiest way to obtain them, but it can be quite expensive after a while. J. Pippin's will also run out of stock from time to time if the player buys all the Leaping Toadstool Caps he has for sale, so the player may need to seek them out elsewhere if they wish to brew multiple Invisibility Potions.
Leaping Toadstool Cap Locations In Hogwarts Legacy
Finding Leaping Toadstool Caps in Hogwarts Legacy can be a little tricky if players don't know where to look. For the most part, these vital ingredients can be found primarily in dark, forested areas around the world, but the handiest way to find several at a time is to explore the Forbidden Forest, located just west of Hogsmeade.
By fast-traveling to the West Forbidden Forest Floo Flame and proceeding north slightly, the player will find a Leaping Toadstool Cap just on their right. To pick it up, all they need to do is interact with it. Backtracking south and turning right outside the ruins with the frog statues inside will lead to another, and continuing west over the climbable wall will lead to a third.
If the player is struggling to locate Leaping Toadstool Caps during their time in the Forbidden Forest, they should cast Revelio whenever they enter a new area, as doing so will reveal if there are any nearby.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
