In Hogwarts Legacy, players are introduced to potion brewing fairly early in the game, and the creation of potions can be crucial to success. From healing brews like the Wiggenweld potion to more dangerous mixes like Thunderbrew, the game offers plenty of options for aspiring potions masters.

One ingredient that Hogwarts Legacy makes fairly easy to find is Leech Juice, which is helpful as it is used in both the aforementioned Thunderbrew, and also in the highly useful Maxima potion. Luckily, Leech Juice is easy to amass in vast stockpiles due to its availability all over the game world.

Where To Find Leech Juice

There are two main methods of acquiring Leech Juice in the game. The first method for acquiring Leech Juice is by purchasing it from a shop, such as J. Pippin's Potions in Hogsmeade. This is the fastest method, but can also get pretty expensive when players are brewing lots of potions. The alternative to this is harvesting it from Leeches found in the game world, which can be found along the shores of any body of water in the game.

Most shores will have at least a couple of leeches to harvest, but the lakes with the waterfall (in the forbidden forest) visited during "Tell Professor Fig About the Map Chamber" in the main story are a particularly handy and easy to reach farming spot. Players could also simply walk around the black lake outside Hogwarts and amass leech juice that way, since it's a large body of water with an abundance of leech spawns around it.

What Leech Juice is Used For

After collecting large quantities of Leech Juice, players can utilize it to make two different potions that are particularly useful. The first is the Thunderbrew, which is a potion that creates a short-lived lightning storm swirling around the player, obscuring their view slightly but dealing damage in the surrounding area. The second potion, the Maxima potion, buffs players spell damage and becomes even more dangerous when paired with the "Maxima Potion Potency" talent, which further amplifies the damage while also causing all attacks to break shields, allowing players to unleash tremendous amounts of damage without needing to worry about enemy shields.

The two potions, and their effects, can be stacked to great effect. Mixing the effects of potions in general can be very effective in combat.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S, and is coming soon to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
