Hogwarts Legacy follows a young fifth-year student at Hogwarts School Witchcraft and Wizardry as they attempt to stop a power-obsessed goblin named Ranrok from waging war on wizardkind. Shortly after arriving at Hogwarts, the player will be given the chance to explore the world around them, where they can find various collectibles.
While exploring the world of Hogwarts Legacy, players will happen upon various cosmetic upgrades to alter their character's appearance. Changing gear will usually offer the biggest aesthetic enhancements, but players can also change the appearance of their wand by equipping different wand handles. A total of 44 wand handles can be found and equipped, but finding them all can be a little tricky.
Obtaining Wand Handles From Quests
Players will find a variety of enjoyable side quests while exploring the world of Hogwarts Legacy. Upon completing these quests, the protagonist will receive unique rewards.
Completing side quests will reward the player with XP, and some will even provide the protagonist with Galleons, but only five side quests will provide the protagonist with unique wand handles.
How To Obtain The Arrow - Black Wand Handle
Upon completing the Brother's Keeper side quest in Hogwarts Legacy, the player will receive the Arrow - Black wand handle from the quest-giver. This quest can be started by visiting Upper Hogsfield and speaking to Dorothy Sprottle.
How To Obtain The Avian - Grey Wand Handle
Completing the Flying Off the Shelves side quest in Hogwarts Legacy will reward players with the Avian - Grey wand handle. This quest can be started by completing the Charms Class main quest and speaking to Cressida Blume in the Central Hall of Hogwarts Castle.
How To Obtain The Orbicular - Violet Wand Handle
The Orbicular - Violet wand handle can be obtained by completing the Gobs of Gobstones side quest in Hogwarts Legacy. To begin this quest, the player must first complete the Weasley After Class main quest and then speak to Zenobia Noke in the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower.
How To Obtain The Checkerboard - Brown Wand Handle
The Checkerboard - Brown wand handle can be obtained by completing the Absconder Encounter side quest in Hogwarts Legacy. To begin this quest, the player must visit Aranshire and speak with Edgar Adley, who will then ask the protagonist to infiltrate a dangerous spider's lair.
How To Obtain The Column - Beige Wand Handle
The Column - Beige wand handle can be obtained by completing the E-Vase-Ive Manoeuvre side quest in Hogwarts Legacy. To begin this quest, the player must travel to Irondale and speak to Althea Twiddle, who will then ask the protagonist to investigate the ruins nearby.
How To Find All Wand Handles In Hogwarts Legacy
The wand handles rewarded to the protagonist after completing side quests are pretty easy to obtain, but locating the other 39 wand handles available in Hogwarts Legacy can be an extremely difficult process, not because they are well-hidden, but because of how they spawn.
Aside from the wand handles obtained from completing side quests, all other wands in Hogwarts Legacy can only be found by opening the Collection Chests scattered throughout the map. Sadly, the items that appear in Collection Chests are completely random, so players will need to open every Collection Chest in the game if they hope to find all the wand handles.
This can take a great deal of time seeing as these chests also contain decorative items for the Room of Requirement and craftable traits, but finding and opening them all is the only way to ensure the player obtains every wand handle available in the game.
For those hoping to obtain every wand handle as quickly as possible, there is a way to speed the process up. If the player hopes to improve their chances of finding a wand handle inside a Collection Chest, they should save their game before opening one.
If the item inside the Collection Chest then turns out not to be a wand handle, the player should reload the save they just made and open the chest again. This will cause the item inside the chest to change, and though the item inside may not be a wand handle at first, it eventually will be if the player keeps trying.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
