Hogwarts Legacy tells the story of a young fifth-year student during their time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Shortly into the main story, players will be given the chance to explore the game's world to their heart's content, but sadly, not all areas are easily accessed.

One such area can be found just across from the entrance to the Headmaster's Office. Interacting with this door without the correct item will cause it to remain shut, so players will need to seek out the means of opening it elsewhere. Hogwarts Legacy won't explicitly state what is required to open this door, however, so some players might struggle in finding the solution.

If players have yet to happen upon the Headmaster's Office, they likely won't know where to find the locked door next to it. The fastest way to reach it is to fast-travel to the Trophy Room above The Grand Staircase, turn right, and proceed through the gate at the end of the corridor.

From there, the player should follow the path forward, climb the spiraling staircase to the very top, and turn right. There, they will find a door with an intricate lock, but Alohomora won't open it. Instead, players will need to find and acquire the Key of Admittance, a unique item that can only be obtained from the Headmaster's Office.

In order to gain access to the Headmaster's Office, the player will first need to have unlocked Niamh Fitzgerald's Trial and completed the first part of it. That said, the Key of Admittance is actually located in the room above the Headmaster's Office, which means that accessing the office isn't required to obtain the key.

If players have completed the Flying Class quest, they can easily reach the Headmaster's Office by flying their broom to the tower's balcony and landing on the small stairway beside the door. Upon doing so, they should ascend the stairs until they reach the door with the Level 3 Lock. To break this lock, they must first obtain the most powerful version of Alohomora by completing The Caretaker's Lunar Lament and then locating 22 Demiguise statues hidden around the world.

Once this door has been unlocked and the stairs behind it have been climbed, the Key of Admittance can be found resting on the table on the right-hand side.

Those who obtained the Key of Admittance by flying to the Headmaster's Office should fast-travel back to the Trophy Room and return to the locked door on foot, but players who already have access to the office can simply return to the entrance. Upon reaching the far end of the hallway, the locked door can now be opened with the Key of Admittance by simply interacting with it.

Climbing the stairs on the other side of the door will lead the player to a room in which the Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance Field Guide Page can be found, alongside a chest containing the Botanical - Bronze Leaf wand handle and another containing the Cabinets decorative item.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
