Hogwarts Legacy follows the journey of a fifth-year student during their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As a student, much of the game's opening requires the protagonist to attend classes and learn new spells, but they will also be given several opportunities to explore the wizarding world.

Sadly, not all areas in Hogwarts Legacy can be accessed at the beginning of the game; certain locations can only be unlocked by progressing the plot, unlocking new spells, and completing various challenges. The Deathday Party Room is no exception, as players will first need to complete The Caretaker's Lunar Lament main quest to acquire the means of reaching it.

Completing The Caretaker's Lunar Lament

To begin The Caretaker's Lunar Lament, Hogwarts Legacy's twenty-second main quest, the player must approach Gladwin Moon and accept his task. Upon doing so, they will unlock the Alohomora spell, an especially handy spell that allows the protagonist to open locked doors. Sadly, completing this quest only allows the player to unlock Level 1 locks, so they will need to do a bit more work before they can open Level 2 and Level 3 locks.

Thankfully, the door leading to the Deathday Party Room is only blocked with a Level 1 lock, so players need only complete The Caretaker's Lunar Lament in order to unlock it. To complete this quest, the player must locate two hidden Demiguise Statues, one in the Prefect's Bathroom and another in the Hospital Wing. Once they have been found, the player should return to Gladwin Moon, who will then ask the protagonist to seek out other Demiguise statues in the world.

How To Fast Travel

By the time players unlock Alohomora, they will also likely have activated several Floo Flames throughout the castle. After activating a Floo Flame, the player can examine the world map, select a Floo Flame they have unlocked, and fast-travel to the location it resides in. This feature can make getting around the world of Hogwarts Legacy much easier, especially if the player wishes to travel to faraway locations.

Given the somewhat jarring size of Hogwarts itself, fast traveling around the castle can save a great deal of time, especially if the player knows exactly where they want to go.

Having unlocked Alohomora, players can feel free to explore several previously inaccessible areas, such as the Deathday Party Room. To find the entrance to this secret area, the player should fast-travel to the Lower Grand Staircase and descend the stairs ahead. Then they must turn right and proceed through the long corridor until they reach the hallway with two doors on either side. Ignoring the doors, the player should continue along the path forward and turn left at the very end of the corridor.

While walking down this corridor, players will notice a gated doorway on the left. To open the way, they must cast Alohomora while facing the door and complete the unlocking minigame. Once the lock has been removed, all the player needs to do is follow the newly opened path until they reach a blue-hued room crawling with dancing ghosts. While exploring the secret room, a few casts of Revelio will reveal some Field Guides and a few treasure chests, but the most interesting aspect of the Deathday Party Room is the ghosts who can be found there.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4 and a Switch version will release on July 25.
