Marunweem Lake is one of the largest Regions, and it contains many Floo Flames to facilitate exploration in Hogwarts Legacy. Although most of the Treasure Vaults are scattered randomly throughout the Region, Each waypoint is surrounded by a certain number of vaults. The Marunweem Ruins Floo Flame, for example, is surrounded by three different Treasure Vaults.
As for the Marunweem Floo Flame, only two vaults are found in proximity. And one of them is a chess puzzle which is a bit tricky to solve since there are various solutions depending on the available chess piece. Like any Treasure Vaults, the ones near Marunweem Floo Flame rewards a Gear chest in Hogwarts Legacy as well as some EXP. Keep in mind that some spells like the Levitation spell and Transformation are vital towards completing the vault’s puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy.
Marunweem Treasure Vaults And How To Open Them In Hogwarts Legacy
Players are free to explore two Treasure Vaults near the Marunweem Floo Flame in Hogwarts Legacy.
Treasure Vault #1
The first vault, which contains the chess puzzle, is found northeast of the Marunweem waypoint. Players will have to fly low or travel using a Graphorn as the entrance is at the base of the mountain.
Turn northwest and take care of the Poachers to find an enchanted cube inside a cage with lock level III. Use Alohomora III to release the cube and guide it back to its platform. Cast Glacius in Hogwarts Legacy to activate it and open the vault’s entrance.
How To Solve The Chess Puzzle
It’s vital to know that there are two solutions to this puzzle, as there are two possible chess pieces used to complete the Treasure Vault.
Chess Puzzle Solution - Rook
Once players are inside, turn southeast to find a cauldron. Transform it into a Rook chess piece by using the Transformation spell. To move the piece around, cast Wingardium Leviosa or Accio and place it on B4. That’s because a Rook can only move up and down.
Chess Puzzle Solution - Knight
The Knight will be in the form of a chair found northeast of the room. Casting the Transformation spell will transfigure it into a chess piece that can be moved using the Levitation spell. As for where to put it, A3 or D2 will work just fine since a Knight moves in an L shape.
Treasure Vault #2
The second Treasure Vault is a lot easier to complete than the first one. To reach it, head southwest from the Marunweem Floo Flame to see a large round gate. What differentiates it from the others is the large eye on top watching players’ every move.
To open it, move away from the eye’s line of sight and cast the Disillusionment charm to disappear. Approach the gate and open it to claim the treasure chest inside.
