To rescue beasts in Hogwarts Legacy, players must complete The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom main quest in Hogwarts Legacy. The latter will be triggered once players attend their first Beast Class and finish The Helm of Urtko quest.

Professor Weasley will send a mail saying that there’s another function for the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy that players have unlocked upon attending Beast Class. Speak with Deek the Elf to start the quest and rescue some beasts. The Elf will first introduce players to a new Utility called the nab-sack, which makes transporting beasts very easy. Deek then proceeds to take the protagonists to three different Beast Habitats to teach them how to rescue beasts.

How To Use The Nab-Sack To Tame Beasts In Hogwarts Legacy

To use the nab-sack, players must first equip it in the spell set. Next, follow these simple instructions:

  • Once a beast is in sight, use the nab-sack and wait for the yellow capture meter to finish.
  • Quickly press the button to catch the beast.
  • Some cannot be caught unless a spell is used in Hogwarts Legacy to slow them down like Glacius and Arresto Momentum.
  • If the beast runs away, follow it and try again.
  • Some types of beasts, like Mooncalf, only appear at night.

  • A small and easy animal like Puffskein only has one capture meter while other creatures have more meters, as it all depends on the beast’s type.
  • The number of capture meters required can be seen as white dots under the capture meter.

Players will encounter three types of beasts while doing the main quest and each one requires a certain number of capture meters to be caught.

  • A family of Puffskein is up first, and it requires one capture meter to be tamed.
  • The Jobberknoll can fly extremely fast. Thus, it’s best to cast Levioso to levitate them and then use the nab-sack to catch the creature after waiting for the two capture meters.
  • Mooncalf appears only at night and requires three capture meters.

After completing the first half of The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom quest and capturing three beasts, Deek urges players to think about a sanctuary for the creatures so that the Room of Requirement creates it in Hogwarts Legacy. After a cutscene, the room provides a Vivarium for players to place their beasts.
