Set in the 1890s, Hogwarts Legacy follows the journey of a young fifth-year student during their first year in attendance at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While a great deal of the game's story tasks the protagonist with completing day-to-day school work and activities, there is much to do outside the classroom.

Hogwarts Legacy is home to a variety of interesting side activities that players must seek out if they hope to experience everything the game has to offer. Some side quests task players with collecting certain items, but if the player wishes, they can also collect living creatures like Diricawls.

Capturing Magical Creatures

Upon unlocking the Room of Requirement, players will be given the chance to customize the room to their liking. This entails decorating the room with various forms of furniture in exchange for Moonstones, altering the theme and lighting of the room, and adding a few unique items that allow for creating potions and growing plants. As if this wasn't immersive enough, the room can also be used to house and breed magical creatures.

While exploring the world of Hogwarts Legacy, players will encounter an abundance of fascinating creatures, but sadly, only thirteen of them can be captured and returned to the Room of Requirement. Each of these creatures, when captured, will provide the protagonist with unique items, so players may want to seek them all out if they wish to get the most out of their playthrough.

Thankfully, capturing each of these creatures is a pretty straightforward task, but not all of them, like the Diricawl, are easy to find.

Finding Diricrawls

Upon completing Charles Rookwood's Trial, the protagonist of Hogwarts Legacy will receive an assignment from Professor Howin, asking them to rescue a Giant Purple Toad and a Diricawl by using a Nab-Sack. Completing this assignment will reward players with Bombarda, one of the most powerful spells in the entire game, so it's likely players will want to get the job done as quickly as they can.

Diricawl Den in Hogwarts Legacy

There are four locations where Diricawls can spawn in Hogwarts Legacy, but not all of them are as easy to find as others. For players who wish to find a Diricawl quickly, they should mount their broom and fly to the hillside south of Lower Hogsfield. There, they will encounter a Diricawl Den in which several Diricawls can be found.

Inferi can also spawn here, so players should be sure to have a fire-based spell ready to deal with them. Once the coast is clear, all the player needs to do is sneak up on a Diricawl and use the Nab-Sack to capture it. Diricawls tend to disappear when threatened, but a well-timed Arresto Momentum spell will halt them just long enough to be captured.

It is possible to capture several Diricawls from this location, but if the player wishes to explore, they can also find some at Clagmar Coast, Poidsear Coast, and Marunweem Lake.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.
