Fans of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will no doubt be thrilled to learn that Nifflers are included as Magical Beasts that players can rescue and tame in Hogwarts Legacy. These creatures are actually rather common in the areas around Hogwarts, but players will still need to know exactly where to look if they want to rescue them and find them a new home. Before hunting around for Nifflers, players should be sure to complete "The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom," as this quest sees Deek give the player a Nab-sack and teach them how to rescue Magical Beasts.Fans are probably familiar with Nifflers and their tendency to steal anything shiny, thanks to Newt Scamander's exploits in the Fantastic Beasts films. In Hogwarts Legacy, the Niffler is described as "a small, furry, and mischievous beast that causes mayhem in pursuit of shiny objects..." Players can even see this first hand when brushing Nifflers, as shiny things will spill out of their pouches.
Where to Find Niffler Dens
To find any beast den in Hogwarts Legacy, simply comb the world map for a symbol that looks like a Beast's paw and hover over it to find what kind of Magical Beast lives there. The closest Niffler den can be found on the west side of the Forbidden Forest, directly west of Hogsmeade and near a Small Bandit Camp. There are seven Niffler Dens in total.Two Niffler dens can be found to the north of Hogwarts (one in the Forbidden Forest and one in the North Ford Bog); the other four are all south of Hogwarts.One is right in the middle of Hogwarts Valley; another can be found on the southern side of the Feldcroft region. The final three are all to the south beyond the Coastal Cavern in the Poisear Coast, Manor Cape, and Cragcroftshire.
Rescuing Nifflers and Getting Niffler Fur
Nifflers are relatively easy to rescue, as they only require three presses of the button during the rescue and aren't particularly fast. Still, if Nifflers are getting away from the player a lot, it's always an option to use spells like Levioso and Arresto Momentum to slow them down.Players can also rescue a shiny Niffler, denoted by the star next to the gender marker, which are grey in color. Brushing and feeding Nifflers in the Vivarium rewards players with three Niffler Fur.For players that go a little overboard on rescuing Nifflers and wind up with a full inventory of beasts, Nifflers can be sold at Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade for 120 Galleons each. They can also be released into the wild from the inventory menu, but the player won't receive any money or Niffler Fur for upgrading gear this way. Using the Toy Chest Spellcraft, players can conjure up the Niffler's favorite toy, which is unsurprisingly a Gold Ball.Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4, and the Nintendo Switch version arrives on July 25, 2023.
