Hogwarts Legacy follows a fifth-year student during their time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Shortly after arriving at the famed wizarding school, the player will be given the chance to explore the world outside the castle's walls, where they can meet a variety of magical beasts.

While Hogwarts Legacy is littered with multiple friendly creatures, some, like the Dugbog, can become extremely aggressive when they are approached. Defeating a Dugbog can take some serious effort, especially at the beginning of the game. That said, flipping a Dugbog on its back will leave it open for a few moments, so all players should know how to do it.

Where To Find Dugbogs In Hogwarts Legacy

Players can happen upon multiple variations of Dugbogs during their time exploring the world of Hogwarts Legacy. They are mostly found residing on shores or wandering near small bodies of water. Because of this, players will usually happen upon these frog-like creatures quite regularly during a playthrough.

Those who wish to find Dugbogs quickly, however, should explore the world in search of Dugbog Dens. These dens tend to consist of multiple Dugbogs that attack the protagonist when they wander near. While these dens appear all over the map, the Dugbog Den located in the South Hogsfield Region is arguably the easiest to reach at the beginning of the game. To find it, the player should fast-travel to the Northern South Sea Bog and proceed southwest along the river.

Defeating a Dugbog will usually reward the protagonist with a Dugbog Tongue, an important potion ingredient needed to create the Focus Potion.

How To Flip A Dugbog On Its Back

Dugbogs can be pretty dangerous due to their high defense and long-range attacks, so players should attempt to flip them on their backs as often as they can. To do this, Depulso, Accio, or Flippendo must be allocated to a spell set; these spells have the power to completely topple a Dugbog.

Casting these spells won't flip a Dugbog unless they have performed a certain attack. To get the Dugbog to perform this attack, the player should get its attention by casting at it. When the Dugbog begins running toward the protagonist, and the protagonist's head begins glowing red, the player should dodge roll out of the way. They will then have a brief window where Depulso, Accio, or Flippendo can be cast to flip the Dugbog on its back.

Timing the cast of these spells can be a little tricky due to how hectic the battle can be, especially if multiple Dugbogs are in the area. If the player is finding it hard to flip the Dugbog they are targeting over, they should first dispose of the other Dugbogs nearby before attempting again. So long as the player casts Depulso, Accio, or Flippendo just as the Dugbog is charging by, they should be able to flip the Dugbog on its back with relative ease.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
