A Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has created a bizarre mechanical contraption capable of launching Link all the way from the underground Depths to the Sky Islands. The recently released sequel to Breath of the Wild has seen no shortage of astounding creations using the game's Ultrahand mechanic, allowing players to merge objects together. Players have created everything from vehicles to carry them across Hyrule to tributes to their favorite franchises within the game. Now, a new fan creation has imagined a device capable of giving Link some serious air time.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's new Zonai Devices have given players plenty of opportunities to create unique and outlandish machines within the game. While Tears of the Kingdom offers plenty of devices to solve its various puzzles, the game has also seen inventive players manufacturing machines capable of soaring through Hyrule's skies. Tears of the Kingdom's Fan and Rocket devices, in particular, offer options for players looking for vertical travel. However, launching Link from Hyrule's lowest point to the skies above is the focus of a recent creation.

Reddit user Paradox_Guardian shared their creation to the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit, a bizarre device crafted out of minecarts, a battery, and a wooden plank. Using the battery and minecarts to rapidly spin the plank, the player then uses the "Recall" function to reverse the flow of time for the device. Climbing onto the platform as it resumes causes Link to be rocketed into the air out of the Depths, propelling Link high into the Sky Islands above. The user even picks up a Sundelion as a memento of their skyward trip at the conclusion of the video.

The use of Zonai devices to exploit certain game mechanics has become commonplace for many Zelda fans looking to push the game to its limits. Players have used the game's Zonai Devices and Ultrahand mechanics to remove NPCs from their intended setting, bringing Purah on a trip through Hyrule's skies. Other players have found ways to rapidly propel objects like planks across Hyrule using quirks in the game's design, often used as popular speedrun strategies.

Tears of the Kingdom's unique mechanics have helped boost the game to see massive success for Nintendo following its launch earlier this month. Nintendo would report sales of more than 10 million copies of Tears of the Kingdom within just three days of the game's debut. The game would quickly become the Legend of Zelda franchise's fastest-selling game ever and even outpace other significantly hyped games like Elden Ring. The creativity afforded by Tears of the Kingdom's new features have surely helped to boost the game's popularity.

The Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
